Since the introduction of Universal Free School Meals in September 2014 all a two course meal is now available free of charge to all infant school children.
The Supervisory Assistants supervise the meal and let the teacher know if any child is having difficulties, in which case parents will be informed.
Special dietary needs due to a medical condition can usually be catered for. Please ask at the school office for a form to be completed by your GP.
If you choose to send a packed lunch it would be appreciated if each item is prepared in such a way that the child can manage it him/herself, e.g. orange peeled and any object which is difficult to control such as a lid is avoided. Water is always made available at lunchtime. Lunchboxes are stored in the cloakroom and so care should be taken in choosing food especially in hot weather.
A packed lunch should be in a named container. Lunchboxes are frequently like those of other children and it should be named so that an adult can identify it without opening it.
Snacks during the day
Please do not send sweets or biscuits to school as we try to encourage healthy eating. The children will be offered a piece of fruit or vegetable at morning break.
