Wishing you a Merry Christmas
The children are really enjoying taking part in the Christmas Performances. They are the best, singing with so much enthusiasm and enjoyment. I know that you must be just as proud of them as we are.
Holidays and Attendance
You are reminded that absence from school other than for sickness or medical reasons will not generally be authorised. When children are taken on holiday during term time they miss important chunks of learning which makes it very difficult for them when they return and they find it hard to catch up. When children then miss significant time due to illness as well they can easily lose up to 4 weeks at school. If necessary the school can impose penalty notices (fines) on parents who take their children out of school during the term.
Our Home School Link Worker keeps a close watch on attendance levels for all of the children. A good attendance percentage is at least 95%. A child is considered persistently absent if attendance is at 90% or below.
So that you know when your child’s attendance is lower than it should be we send you a letter when it falls below 94%. Our Home School Link Worker can offer support if required.
Our Christmas craft event on Friday was a great success and was enjoyed by both the children and adults. Thank you to all of the adults who helped on the day.
Medicine in school
If your child needs prescribed medicine or Calpol during the school day please bring it into the office and complete a medicine consent form. Under no circumstances should any medication (including cough sweets) be put into book bags as this is a severe hazard to other children.
If you know that your child will need Calpol during the day please send it in as we keep it in school for emergency use only. Please note: we are not permitted to administer ibuprofen based medicines.
Please remember that nobody should be parking or turning round in the driveway leading down to the school gate. This is for the safety of the children as they are coming to and leaving school.
