Out of school visits take place at various times during the school year and vary from educational walks around the local area, to coach journeys to visit museums or sites of interest that relate to the topics the children are studying.
For trips that involve a full day out of the school children will be invited onto the trip using our SCOPAY electronic trip system. Parents who do not yet have an account should create one (access information is available from the School Office) and then will be able to consent to the trip, select their packed lunch preference for their child, and make a contribution towards the cost of the trip – all online. We will never take a child on a trip or local visit where consent has not been given.
Where a trip has a cost associated we will ask parents for contributions towards the cost of the trip, these are voluntary. However, where we do not receive enough contributions for the trip to go ahead it may have to be cancelled. If you have any concerns about the cost of a trip, please come and speak with us privately.
For local area walks which do not involve the children being out of school for a full day, and which do not require a change to lunch plans, parents will be sent a text to notify them that their children will be off-site during that day.
All trips and local walks are fully risk assessed. Children will always be looked after to the required ratio of adults to children for their age group, and accompanied by First Aid trained staff, who will be aware of any individual health care plans for the children attending the visit, e.g., taking individual inhalers/epi-pens. Children will always be in high-visibility jackets when out on local walks and staff will have access to an emergency telephone to contact the School Office at any time while they are out of the school premises.
